Its purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic achievement, exemplary character, and promote community service. Xi Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered in Anchorage, Alaska on October 21, 1983. For over thirty years, the chapter has implemented and participated in local community service programs, including providing scholarships to local high school students.
